Not every artificial lawn stays looking good forever. After a few years, fake turf can start to flatten, fade and lose the look it had on day one, and at that point many customers decide they would rather have the real thing back.
That was the job on this particular visit. The garden had artificial grass laid some years earlier, and the brief was straightforward: take it out completely and get the ground ready for a proper lawn.
We started by stripping away and removing all of the old artificial turf, including the weed membrane and edging underneath it. Once that was cleared, we fully prepped and graded the ground, breaking up compacted soil and levelling out any dips or high points left behind. The final stage was importing and laying high-quality fresh topsoil, levelled properly across the whole area.
By the end of the visit the garden was back to bare, level ground, ready for seeding or turfing. That groundwork stage matters more than people expect. A lawn is only ever as good as what is underneath it, and skipping the prep work is the most common reason a new lawn struggles within the first year.
If you are thinking about swapping artificial grass for a real lawn, or just want an honest opinion on whether your current setup is worth replacing, we are happy to come and take a look. The same applies if your existing lawn has never really taken and you suspect the ground underneath was never prepared properly in the first place.
